This weeks round up of Christmas commercials see’s Debenhams first Christmas ad in six years, Marks and Spencer’s Christmas Sound Track and Matlan’s Quality Christmas.

Debenhams – Christmas Made Fabulous

The multi-million pound ‘Christmas Made Fabulous’ ad stars its Designers at Debenhams, including new addition Jenny Packham.

The ad follows on from the retailers ‘Life Made Fabulous’ campaign which Debenhams chief executive Michael Sharp has credited with increasing its sales and improving its brand perception.

The Debenhams’ Christmas TV campaign will be supported by print advertising, including Aurasma enabled ads. This allows readers to see the TV ad on their smartphone by scanning the print version in front of them.

As well online activity on Debenhams.com and Debenhams TV, the store has also created an online hub to encourage customers to share photos of their Christmas moments. Each week the best submission will win a prize at christmasmadefabulous.com.

M&S – The Greatest Hits this Christmas

Created by ad agency RKCR/Y&R, the ad is shot in the style of a music video and promotes five product ranges including knitwear, dresses and kidswear.

The ad emulates a Christmas compilation album format with each outfit accompanied by its own song and scenario, such as playing in the snow to a festive song and dancing on a night out to an 1980s pop song. It ends with strapline ‘The Greatest Hits this Christmas’.
