Galeries Lafayette, Boulevard Haussmann, Paris
As possibly the best-known shop in the French capital and one of the truly ‘grands magasins’ on the upscale Boulevard Haussmann, Galeries Lafayette has always drawn the Christmas crowds, as much for its interiors as for the windows.
One of the reasons
Luxury department store Barneys in New York has collaborated with visual artist Joanie Lemercier and music icon Shawn ‘Jay Z’ Carter to create interactive multimedia Christmas window displays.
Barneys has worked with technology supplier Christie to deliver its displays, entitled ‘A New York Holiday’.
The Madison Avenue
As part of the relaunch of their 8th floor Co-op at the flagship store in New York last year, Barneys launched genes@co-op, an interactive cafe featuring a 30-foot long digital banquet table.
Developed by 2x4 it features a table top that includes a simple ordering system
Barneys opened its new interactive floor cafe, genes @ CO-OP, where shoppers can grab a meal while checking out what’s new and of note at Barneys on a digitized tabletop. The restaurant has room for just 30 diners, each of whom are spread across a communal table with a glass top under which there are 30 computer screens allowing diners to digitally order off the menu and scroll through Barneys’ digital content.
Well if Coca-Cola can turn Santa red then surely Lady Gaga can take over from him.
In this year’s Christmas display, iconic New York retailer Barney’s has created a Gaga Grotto in their Madison Avenue store. With all the magic and eccentric difference as the Lady herself, this really is a spectacle to be seen.
