Despite the convenience of online shopping, studies have shown that as many as half of all consumers still prefer to buy clothing in-store. Fit is a big part of that. It can often times be difficult for shoppers to gauge how well an item will fit just by looking at an image online, leading to dissatisfaction and returns. A Japanese company has addressed this problem in a unique way with a solution for a personal fitting room that uses a futuristic body suit to create bespoke clothing with the perfect fit.
ZOZOSUIT is a new body measurement device created by ZOZOTOWN, a Tokyo-based e-commerce platform, that uses patented sensor technology. Customers simply slip on the bodysuit, which using the attached sensors captures 15,000 measurements of the wearer’s body. These measurements are then sent to an app via Bluetooth and automatically uploaded to the service, which uses the information to create bespoke clothing.
Customers are then able to shop from ZOZOTOWN’s online collection of men and women’s clothing, all of which will be custom tailored upon creation for the customer, creating what the makers of the bodysuit says is “the world’s first size-free e-commerce experience.” ZOZOSUIT is available now for pre-order through ZOZOSUIT’s global website, with orders set to ship starting next spring.
